Saga and Kiia are Special Olympics Youth Leaders and siblings who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to implement a year-round Unified rhythmic gymnastics program in Finland.
Over nine months, Saga and Kiia will engage 300 Youth Leaders across Finland. Saga and Kiia will work with Unified coaches and volunteers to form new Unified Sports clubs to safely train Special Olympics athletes and partners and improve skills and techniques. These clubs will also implement year-round Unified rhythmic gymnastics programs, exhibitions, and competitions. By promoting and posting videos of Unified rhythmic gymnastics events and training sessions online, Saga and Kiia hope their initiative will extend globally and ignite a culture of inclusion through a sport both sisters love. As members of the Unified Generation, Saga and Kiia believe the joy and enthusiasm shared by athletes and spectators will inspire kindness and spread inclusion across Finland.
