Meng Fang and Yu-Cheng will lead a Youth Innovation Project that organizes an over-night orienteering trip. Orienteering is a sport that combines racing with navigation. Participants with and without intellectual disabilities will learn important survival skills, including the fundamentals of using a map and compass and basic wilderness cooking techniques, as they race through a series of checkpoints. Unified pairs will work together to navigate the woods, discover their strengths, and chart a path forward towards an inclusive world.

Over the course of three months, Meng Fang and Yu-Cheng will engage 15 Youth Leaders to help organize the activity and recruit 50 participants with and without intellectual disabilities to participate in the over-night trip. Meng Fang and Yu-Cheng are excited to be bringing the inclusive sports model to orienteering and to be providing an opportunity for athletes and partners to work together and face challenges a team. Through their leadership, Meng Fang and Yu-Cheng are empowering the Unified Generation to become champions for inclusion in the field of outdoor recreation.
