Volunteer Event Staff are the steady force that brings competitions to life by creating a safe, organized, and welcoming environment where inclusion is visible in action.
Special Olympics events bring together athletes, families, volunteers, and communities for days of competition and celebration. Volunteer Event Staff play a critical role in making sure everything runs smoothly across every part of the event experience.
Their responsibilities may include:
- Athlete registration and check-in
- Venue setup and competition logistics
- Score keeping, timing, and results support
- Awards and medal ceremonies
- Volunteer coordination and support
- Guest assistance
- Hydration and athlete support stations
At larger competitions and Games, Volunteer Event Staff may also support transportation, housing, hospitality, and ceremonies, ensuring every detail is aligned so athletes can focus on performance and enjoyment.
No prior experience is required for most roles. Training and guidance are provided, and experienced leaders support staff throughout the event.
