Six Flags Invites Guests to “Take the Plunge” to Benefit Special Olympics

“Fun Event” Celebrates the Start of Summer

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — May 24, 2019: Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE:SIX), the world’s largest regional theme park company and largest operator of waterparks in North America, is partnering with Special Olympics for a fun kickoff to the start of summer. On June 21, the first day of summer and the longest day of the year, guests who raise money for Special Olympics will take the Six Flags Solar Plunge at Hurricane Harbor waterparks across the country. Guests will take the plunge into giant pools filled with blocks of ice.

“Six Flags and Special Olympics share a common bond of bringing families together to create lasting memories,” said Six Flags Communications Vice President Sandra Daniels. “This event is our way of honoring a community of incredible Special Olympics athletes and we are encouraging our guests to help raise money to support children and adults with intellectual disabilities and showcase their abilities on and off the field.”

The Six Flags Solar Plunge takes place on the June solstice, the perfect day to enjoy all things summer including a refreshing splash for a great cause. Participants must register through Special Olympics and pay the $25 registration fee in order to “take the plunge” into the ice-chilled waters of a Six Flags waterpark pool.

  • Tier 1: Participants who raise $100.00 – $199.99 by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 19, 2019, will receive free park admission for event day.
  • Tier 2: Participants who raise $200 – $299.99 by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 19, 2019, will receive free park admission, plus a Six Flags Prize Pack.

“Special Olympics is excited to partner with Six Flags to engage new audiences and raise critical funds to support our life-changing work.
