The Special Olympics Meet the Heroes video series features Special Olympics athletes who are exactly that: heroes within their sport and community, who have become heroes to the global inclusive movement.

Experience the future of the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Switzerland 2029. From March 10–17, athletes and coaches from 100+ countries will unite in Switzerland for one of the world’s largest winter sports events celebrating inclusion, equality, and international unity.

Meet Aegir Ólafsson, a powerlifter from Special Olympics Iceland. Growing up in the countryside, he discovered powerlifting and turned it into a daily commitment, building purpose, confidence, and pride through training.

We’re proud to announce that Paris, France will host the 2026 Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup! This incredible global event will unite 324 athletes, 48 coaches, 500 families, and 500 volunteers from all seven Special Olympics regions. In partnership with the French Government, the City of Paris, the French Football Federation, and Paris FC, we’re setting the stage for an unforgettable competition where athletes will showcase their skills, teamwork, and spirit to claim the title of Unified Football World Cup Champions! ⚽🌍
