Young people with and without intellectual disabilities from 45 countries will join leaders at the Special Olympics Global Youth Leadership Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Special Olympics, the 2018 Global Youth Leadership Forum comes to Baku, Azerbaijan from 24 to 28 September.

Since 2001, the Lions Clubs International Foundation has provided generous support to the Special Olympics movement, expanding the reach and scope of key programs in the areas of health, inclusive sports and community building through inclusive development through service worldwide. Through the “Mission: Inclusion” partnership platform, the Lions Clubs International Foundation and countless Lions Clubs have become a pivotal global partner in the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the world.

Since 2002 the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and EssilorLuxottica are the official global supplier of ophthalmic lenses to the Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Foundation Opening Eyes program.

As part of Special Olympics 50th Anniversary, Lions Clubs further committed to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Betsy Coetzee said it was her first time coming to a Special Olympics South Africa screening and that her experience was amazing.

They held come-and-try sessions in golf, hockey and football, as well as Young Athletes and Healthy Athletes promotion sessions.
