Hasbro has been a partner of Special Olympics and the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® program since 2016, supporting the expansion of inclusive school programming in the United States (Washington, Rhode Island, Florida, California) and globally (Canada, India, Great Britain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia).

Brighton High school in Brighton, Michigan was recognized on October 19th as a top-five Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® in the country. Brighton students play together in the sports of flag football, basketball, and bocce.

On World Youth Skills Day, Special Olympics is helping to lead the efforts in encouraging youth’s potential through skilled abilities that can lead to a more inclusive world. Over 155 youth leaders with and without intellectual disabilities are the recipients of the next round of Special Olympics Youth Innovation grants, resulting in 85 Youth Innovation Projects. This diverse cohort of youth leaders represent 52 countries and span all seven Regions of the global Special Olympics movement (Africa, Asia Pacific, East Asia, Europe Eurasia, Latin America, Middle East North Africa, North America). Los Angeles-based Unified Schools teammates, Diego Salazar and Iantha Kahn, served up some savory salads with Mara Sampo’ and Chef Massimo Denaro from Sfixio in Beverly Hills during the “Special Olympics Live” stream-a-thon.

June was a very exciting month for Special Olympics Russia which launched the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) ‘Play Unified. Learn Unified.’ project in not one, but five cities across the country!

The Kenyan government estimates that over 3 million people of its population have a disability which exemplifies the need for Special Olympics Unified Schools.
