We serve more than 13,000 athletes in 11 counties in Southern California and extend from San Luis Obispo County and Bakersfield to San Diego. We are one of 52 U.S. programs, and part of a global movement that serves three million athletes in more than 170 countries.
Children and adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in Special Olympics develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image.
Competitions and Training
Special Olympics Southern California offers 12 sports, divided into two sports seasons: Spring/Summer includes aquatics, athletics (track & field), basketball, bocce, golf and gymnastics; Fall/Winter sports are bowling, floor hockey, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.
