Brightspot Joins as International Sponsor of the Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027

Special Olympics’ Digital Partner Since 2009 to Power the First World Games in Latin America
""

[Santiago, Chile - 27 October 2026] From 16 – 24 October 2027, Santiago, Chile, will host the Special Olympics World Games, the first to be held in the Southern Hemisphere and in Latin America. More than 6,000 athletes and Unified partners (athletes without intellectual disabilities), from more than 170 countries will compete across 23 sports, supported by more than 2,000 coaches and thousands of volunteers.

Brightspot, a content management and operations platform, headquartered in Virginia, USA, has joined as an international sponsor of the Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027. Brightspot has been a digital partner of Special Olympics since 2009, and in 2025, launched the official website of the World Games Santiago 2027.

“Digital platforms are at the heart of how people experience the World Games and connect with Special Olympics athletes, wherever they are in the world. Brightspot has helped us strengthen that experience across multiple World Games, and we are delighted that this partnership will continue at Santiago 2027.”
Zehra Sayin, Chief Marketing, Communications and Development Officer at Special Olympics International

Digital Partner of Special Olympics Since 2009

The collaboration between Brightspot and Special Olympics began with the redesign of the Special Olympics website, launched in late 2011, and SpecialOlympics.org migrated to the Brightspot platform in 2018. Since 2015, Brightspot has been a digital engine behind Special Olympics World Games: Los Angeles 2015, Abu Dhabi 2019, Berlin 2023, and Turin 2025. Its platform gives Games organizing committees the tools to promote the Games, publish logistical information, showcase local culture, and recruit volunteers. During competition, these sites serve as multilingual information hubs for athletes, family members, coaches, spectators, media, and fans around the world.

"Our 15-year partnership with Special Olympics has been a critical pillar of Brightspot’s history. We are deeply honored to serve as an international sponsor for Santiago 2027 and bring the digital presence of the first World Games in Latin America to life. Providing a platform that connects millions of fans, families and athletes around the world—and seeing the transformative power of inclusion firsthand—is at the core of who we are as a company."
Raleigh McClayton, Brightspot CEO.

A Platform for Following the Games

Brightspot worked with Special Olympics to develop its Schedule & Results platform, which is integrated within the Games Management System. It delivers real-time schedules and results and preserves the historical archive of competitions, giving athletes greater visibility on the world stage.

The company also participates on the ground; a team of Brightspot employees has attended every World Games since 2013 to support Unified Sports experiences, award ceremonies, and leadership tasks.

“An event of this scale needs clear, accessible, real-time information. Being partners with Brightspot, which has already supported organizing committees of previous World Games, gives us confidence that the digital experience of Santiago 2027 will be worthy of our athletes,” said Rodrigo Gardella, Executive Director of the Local Organizing Committee for the World Games to be held in Chile. With the addition of Brightspot, Santiago 2027 gains a partner that provides the digital infrastructure through which thousands of people will be able to follow the Games; an event that will expand Special Olympics Chile’s programming across all 16 regions of the country.
