Athletes are the heart of Special Olympics. Our athletes are children and adults with intellectual disabilities from all around the world—5.6 million and counting! They are finding success, joy and friendship as part of our global community. They're also having lots of fun!

Government & NGO Partners

Partnerships between Special Olympics, governments and non-government/non-profit organizations provide valuable support to our movement as we transform lives and expand our programming reach around the world. These multi-faceted relationships enhance Special Olympics’ robust platform, further growing our capacity to deliver life-changing and life-saving interventions to people with intellectual disabilities and champion change at the highest levels of governance.

Special Olympics Program Emergency Relief Fund

Special Olympics is the largest grassroots sports organization for people with intellectual disability globally. With inclusive sport, education, and health programming in over 200 countries, reaching over 3 million athletes with intellectual disability, our reach has drastically been affected by the devastation of COVID-19 worldwide. This Program Emergency Relief Fund will go directly to support country Programs globally as they rebuild for strength, scale, and inclusion.
