Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Those activities give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.

World DanceSport Federation

Special Olympics and the World DanceSport Federation (WSDF) have signed a Proclamation in support of each other’s organization to develop and improve the quality of DanceSport for Special Olympics athletes. This includes greater involvement by WSDF’s national and local branches to better prepare Special Olympics DanceSport coaches and instructors, to improve the number and quality of local DanceSport competitions, and to maximize the recruitment and training of competition officials. Additionally, they will work to better integrate Special Olympics into the wider structures of DanceSport at World and National levels.
