At Special Olympics, it is so meaningful to connect with corporate partners that value our mission and share our devotion to providing opportunities to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Hasbro, in particular, is a partner that is constantly pushing for inclusion and kindness, especially with their BE FEARLESS BE KIND initiative. Together, Special Olympics and Hasbro work to promote inclusion in schools, both globally and in the United States.
For the past four years, Hasbro has supported the global development of Unified Schools and Unified Champion Schools programming in schools across Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, India, Italy, Mexico and the United Kingdom. In 2019, this investment supported inclusive programming in 170 schools and impacted over 3,500 youth with and without intellectual disabilities in five countries outside of the United States.
Since the beginning of this partnership, we have worked together to activate and celebrate youth leadership across the United States. Over the last year, Hasbro and Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® honored five schools in the U.S. who had achieved national banner recognition. National Banner Schools are those that have met the ten standards of excellence for inclusion, as outlined by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community. In the last year, Hasbro sponsored thrilling celebrations at Anna McCabe Elementary School (RI), Cole Middle School (RI), Fienberg Fisher K-8 Center (FL), Lewisville High School (TX), and Seekonk High School (MA).
