The NFL celebrated its fifth annual My Cause, My Cleats campaign during Week 13 of the NFL season as a part of its commitment to support causes important to players. My Cause, My Cleats is a collaboration between the NFL and players that raises awareness and money for hundreds of charitable organizations of each player's choosing.

Special Olympics Global Ambassador Joe Haden and Champion Ambassadors Dalton Risner and Eddie Yarbrough were among the 20 plus NFL players who wore cleats showing their support for Special Olympics. Other NFL players included Baker Mayfield, Kendal Vickers, Alex Singleton, and more. Cleveland Browns Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s shoes feature Special Olympics Ohio athlete Antrone Juice Williams. The two met earlier in 2020 at the global press event that takes place each year the the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

“To watch a Special Olympics athlete and the happiness they have to be able play that sport, that’s why I try to play with passion and happiness.”
Alex Singleton, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker

This year’s My Cause, My Cleats shows also hold a very personal meaning for Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton. When asked why he chose Special Olympics as his cause, he stated, “To watch a Special Olympics athlete and the happiness they have to be able play that sport, that’s why I try to play with passion and happiness.” Singleton has been involved with Special Olympics since his older sister Ashely began swimming in Special Olympics competitions over 20 years ago. Singleton started a fundraising drive earlier in the year to support Special Olympics Pennsylvania by asking for donations for every tackle he makes.

Through the My Cause, My Cleats campaign, NFL players will have the option to donate their cleats to be auctioned off through NFL.com. All the proceeds from the auctions will be donated to each player's selected cause or organization.
