Special Olympics Makes History at X Games 2020

Unified pair celebrating with their medals in front of the press.

For the first year ever, a Unified Ski competition will be part of the line-up of the Special Olympics Unified races at the 2020 X Games. This year marks the sixth Unified Snowboard competition. The races will take place on January 23 in Aspen, Colorado.

XGames 2020

Latrice Pringle (SO South Carolina) will be the first African American with an intellectual disability to compete in the Winter X Games Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding competition. She will be joined by new and veteran snowboard competitors such as Henry Meece (SO Oregon) who will attempt to break his own record by winning a 5th gold medal.

For each race, athletes are teamed up in pairs consisting of a Special Olympics athlete and a pro athlete. For both the Unified Snowboarding and Unified Skiing competitions, each team member races down the slopes in a 2-person race, Special Olympics athletes together and pro athletes together. The race times of each team are combined together into one time.

You can check out the action and the athletes live on January 23 at 10:30am MST. ESPN will stream the competitions live on @XGames on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Find a list of competitors below.
