Special Olympics Mourns President George HW Bush

Former President George H.W. Bush supported Special Olympics events through the decades. Here, he's shown at a 1981 Special Olympics reception held on the White House grounds, with athlete Loretta Claiborne, center, and actor Christopher Reeve, right.

The Special Olympics Movement mourns the loss of a great man whose legacy made the rights of people with disabilities a priority for the United States. President George H.W. Bush will be forever celebrated and memorialized by people with disabilities for his signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. His vision and belief for equality and inclusion is a noble legacy that has changed the lives of millions and will continue to change the lives of millions of people in the future.
