200 athletes from around the world will compete in this historic event.

The Special Olympics Unified 3x3 Basketball World Cup Draw Ceremony was held today in San Juan, Puerto Rico officially marking the start of the World Cup and setting the stage for what teams, spectators, families, and basketball fans around the world can expect for gameplay come 5 – 7 December.

San Juan will make history this December hosting the world’s first inclusive basketball tournament of its kind, where athletes of all abilities will compete side by side, demonstrating the power of sport to unite and inspire.

José "Joseíto" Rivera made history in March 2023 when he became the first Special Olympics Puerto Rico athlete to complete an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon.

Special Olympics Puerto Rico athlete David “El Delfin Boricua” Torres Rivera became the first person with Down syndrome to participate in the IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico.

Matos will lead the Brazadas por la Inclusión (Strokes for Inclusion) swimming event and the general public will be able to support and participate in a virtual manner.

Angel Arroyo began his Special Olympics journey as a volunteer and now serves as the Sport Director of Special Olympics Puerto Rico.

For the third time, ultra-swimmer Joel Matos will test his mental and physical strength in Brazadas por la Inclusión (Strokes for Inclusion), a swimming marathon fundraiser for Special Olympics Puerto Rico. This time, Brazadas por la Inclusión will visit seven beaches around the country and the general public will be able to support and participate in a virtual manner.

Since his arrival at Special Olympics Puerto Rico in 2013, José Antonio Fernández has not only improve his health, it's helped unite his family.
