Project Year
2020
Antonio Rafael and Daniel are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Venezuela who will lead a Youth Innovation Project together to create inclusive virtual spaces where athletes can activate their minds and bodies as they develop technical skills in tennis.
The Youth Leaders are motivated by the increased inactivity of youth around the world in terms of both physical care and mental care. Thus, Antonio Rafael and Daniel have the goal to provide youth with healthy opportunities to engage. Antonio Rafael and Daniel will develop virtual tennis clinics, challenges, and elevate the voices and visibility of youth with intellectual disabilities in sports.

Over the course of 3 months, Antonio Rafael and Daniel hope to recruit 15 new Youth Leaders through these engaging virtual activities. Towards the end of the project, Antonio Rafael and Daniel plan to evaluate the impact of the project on the new Youth Leaders, as they prepare to become lifelong advocates of inclusion.. Antonio Rafael and Daniel are demonstrating immense leadership and innovation by discovering a way to make a multi-person sport accessible through a virtual format where youth can unite and have fun.
