Angel and Bruno created a Human Resources Ambassador program at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, connecting university students with Special Olympics athletes to promote inclusion. Through inclusive activities and Athlete Leadership opportunities, the project helped strengthen inclusive leadership and create a sustainable model for continued inclusion at the university.
About the Project
The project developed and launched a Special Olympics Human Resources Ambassador program in partnership with the Administration and Human Resources career program at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC). The initiative created opportunities for students to engage directly with Special Olympics athletes and learn about inclusion, helping increase the involvement of Human Resources ambassadors in the Athlete Leadership program and other activities.
The goal of the program was to increase awareness of inclusion and the capabilities of people with intellectual disabilities by challenging stereotypes and creating meaningful interactions between students and Special Olympics athletes. The project also sought to strengthen inclusive leadership and expand participation in Special Olympics programs.
The Inspiration
Angel and Bruno were inspired by their experiences meeting Special Olympics athletes and seeing the potential for greater impact within their university and community. With ongoing support from the Special Olympics Peru National Office and UPC, they turned this inspiration into an initiative that could create meaningful connections and promote inclusion among future Human Resources professionals.
The Project
The project established a Human Resources Ambassador program that connected university students with Special Olympics athletes through inclusive experiences and activities. Through these interactions, the youth leaders created unified spaces where participants could learn from one another and develop a deeper understanding of inclusion in educational and future workplace settings.
Project Impact
The project contributed to increased participation of Human Resources ambassadors in the Athlete Leadership program and helped to promote inclusion among participants.
Project Leaders Reflection
