Youth leaders Eunice and Annabelle brought students with and without intellectual disabilities together through a series of six inclusive art workshops focused on inclusion. Participants created collaborative artwork, which was showcased through an awareness campaign and public exhibition. The project provided a safe space for students to express themselves, build confidence, strengthen communication, and connect with others.

About the Project

Youth leaders Eunice and Annabelle organized a series of art workshops where students with and without intellectual disabilities created artwork centered on themes of inclusion and diversity. Using artwork created during the Unified workshops, they launched an awareness campaign to promote understanding and inclusion within their schools. The project also featured a public art exhibition showcasing the participants’ collaborative artwork and celebrating their achievements.

The project concluded with reflection sessions with students and staff to evaluate its impact and gather feedback to inform future initiatives.

The Inspiration

The courage and confidence of the participants were the project’s greatest sources of inspiration. Their willingness to try new things and express themselves motivated everyone involved.

The project was also supported by volunteers, the SOPNG team, parents, and coaches. Together, they demonstrated the importance of teamwork and showed that leadership is not about working alone, but about coordinating efforts and valuing the strengths of everyone involved.

The Project

The project included six fun and accessible art activities. Some of the most memorable moments came during reflections following each activity, when participants shared how the activities made them feel. Their honest feedback about what they found easy or challenging helped guide the project’s evaluation and identify opportunities for improvement.

Project Impact

Art for Inclusion created a safe and encouraging space for children with intellectual disabilities to express themselves through art. The project brought together parents, guardians, volunteers, coaches, and community members to celebrate the creativity and talents of the participants.

These interactions fostered friendship, unity, and skill-sharing while creating opportunities for participants to build confidence and connect with others.

Project Leaders Reflection

Through the project, Eunice and Annabelle strengthened their communication and ability to support athletes, while also developing their creativity and confidence in expressing themselves. They were proud to see participants become more comfortable communicating and expressing their creativity throughout the program.

The youth leaders are especially proud that the project successfully achieved most of its objectives. Participants demonstrated improved communication, creativity, and engagement, and positive feedback from students and their families showed the project’s contribution to building confidence and promoting inclusion.
