Recognizing the lack of equal employment opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), youth leaders Wang and Yu partnered with university students and faculty to create an inclusive employment initiative. Together, they developed a vocational skills training program and an employment placement platform designed to help people with IDD prepare for and secure meaningful employment.

The project provided participants with vocational training before connecting them with local employers, resources, and ongoing support to facilitate successful employment.

In addition to expanding employment opportunities, the project addressed the limited public awareness of the abilities and potential of people with IDD. Through collaboration with local schools, the team conducted regular outreach on inclusive practices and established a school-based inclusion alliance.
The project was inspired by the unique strengths, perspectives, and dedication of the young team members working together to promote inclusion. Their shared commitment to creating equitable opportunities motivated them to develop a sustainable pathway to employment for people with IDD.
