Fatou Kiné and Khadidiatou are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Senegal who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to improve the nutritional health of Special Olympics athletes through the new Special Olympics Senegal YouTube channel.
The Youth Leaders are inspired by their passion for cooking and their knowledge of the importance of a balanced diet in order to compete. Fatou Kiné and Khadidiatou plan to host live shows so that viewers can follow along with the recipes being shared. In order to make the process more interactive, they will invite other Youth Leaders to the show in order to be ‘culinary critics’ for the day. The most important goal that Fatou Kiné and Khadidiatou have for this project is to reduce the overall stigma against youth with Intellectual Disabilities by showcasing their capabilities in doing something as essential as cooking.

Over the course of 3 months, Fatou Kiné and Khadidiatou intend to reach over 1000 social media impressions through their YouTube series. Additionally, their goal is to recruit 12 new Youth Leaders in the process of leading by example. The combination of passion for cooking, an interactive community doing something fun, and learning an essential skill will undoubtedly contribute to the growing Unified Generation in Senegal. The Youth Leaders have hope that their work in this project will create a sense of inclusion within their own community and beyond, one recipe at a time.
