Family Engagement
Annick is a sibling and Special Olympics Youth Leader from Burkina Faso who is leading a Youth Innovation Project aimed at providing a space to unite families that have children with intellectual disabilities.
Through this project, Annick plans to host a day-long workshop where people with intellectual disabilities and their families can ask for advice on how to navigate topics ranging from accurate communication with healthcare professionals to accessible entertainment in their area. Annick hopes to create a network of people who might be experiencing similar situations and can support each other.
Over the course of 9 months, Annick hopes to engage 40 people in his workshop. By creating a space to engage in conversation, Annick will help families get help and support from their community to then continue to share after the workshop. Annick is inspiring the Unified Generation to create spaces for inclusion and support.
