An Online Learning Program in Macau

Project Year
2020
Chi Hong and Sio Hong are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Macau who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to create an online learning program for young people with intellectual disabilities.
Chi Hong and Sio Hong are motivated to conduct this type of project because of the recent closure of special education schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The online learning program will mainly be used for the following categories: dancing, fitness, hand-made crafts, and other art. By creating videos in these areas, Chi Hong and Sio Hong hope that youth will engage with learning opportunities even if formal school is on pause. The educational videos will be led by Special Olympics athletes and Youth Leaders in order to demonstrate the talents and capabilities of those in their own inclusive community.

Over the course of 3 months, Chi Hong and Sio Hong hope to engage over 150 Special Olympics athletes with their project. To keep participants engaged throughout the full 3 months, Chi Hong and Sio Hong will implement the option to create a customized learning plan. The Youth Leaders hope that this will be a platform for others to stay intellectually stimulated at a time period where it can be easy to lose a sense of proactivity. Ultimately, Chi Hong and Sio Hong are doing their role to creating a Unified Generation in Macau through this online learning program.
