Paola and Susana are Special Olympics Youth Leaders form Venezuela who will lead a Youth Innovation Project that provides Special Olympics athletes with a fun and different training alternative to their usual sports activities.

They were inspired by their own involvement in Special Olympics and want to provide a new opportunity for athletes to show that they are just as capable as anyone else, which Paola and Susana are proud to give them the opportunity to showcase through the “Circuit OEV” event. This will be an event where athletes and Unified Partners participate in a training circuit with different workouts or exercises at each station. Paola and Susana hope this gets youth with and without intellectual disabilities working together as a unified team and motivates more people to help create a world of inclusion.

Over six months, Paola and Susana will engage 15 new Youth Leaders and a total of 30 youth in the planning and implementation of Circuit OEV. Their plan is to make this a regular event that is repeated every three months, where unified pairs support each other through the completion of six workout stations with exercises from various sports. The stations will change at each event, making for a fun new experience each time. Paola and Susana believe in a Unified Generation where people aren’t discriminated against for being different but celebrated for what makes them unique! With this project, Paola and Susana want to celebrate those differences and show that anyone is capable of anything, as long as they put in the effort and perseverance.
