They will lead a Youth Innovation Project with the goal of establishing the first ever Unified Champion University in Hungary. Hanna and Barbara have already created a cooperation with the Health Care Branch at the University of Debrecen, where students with and without intellectual disabilities participate in sports and Youth Leadership education events. In this project, they will expand on the progress they’ve made by providing new inclusive activities that engage students and teachers across the university and raise awareness about intellectual disabilities.

Over 9 months, Hanna and Barbara will facilitate the formation of Unified partners between athletes and university students through activities like regular and ongoing sports practices and a Health Day where students and faculty are introduced to Special Olympics fitness and health programs. Hanna and Barbara hope to engage the entire student body and staff of the university’s Health Care Branch, which amounts to approximately 300 people! By leading this project, Hanna and Barbara are setting an example for other universities throughout Hungary, showing how to incorporate inclusion on a large scale and create a lasting cooperation between the university and the local community.
