Through their project, Kafando and Rouamba hope to give all young people with and without intellectual disabilities the opportunity to play together and to develop new Unified teams in each school. In October 2019, Kafando and Rouamba participated in the Special Olympics Africa Regional Youth Leadership Summit in Nairobi, Kenya and learned how the importance of youth leadership and engagement can lead to a stronger Unified Generation.

Over the course of three months, Kafando and Rouamba will engage more than one hundred young people with and without intellectual disabilities, create four new Unified Schools, and create two new Unified Champion Schools. Kafando and Rouamba see Unified Sports and Unified Schools as a way to fight discrimination against individuals with intellectual disabilities and make local schools a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone. By getting more young people Involved with Unified Sports and Unified Schools, Kafando and Rouamba are growing the Unified Generation and spreading inclusion through their community and beyond.
