Mame is a Special Olympics Youth Leader from Senegal who participated in the 2019 Special Olympics Africa Family and Sibling Workshop.
Drawing on inspiration from her sibling, Mame will lead a Youth Innovation Project to facilitate bonding and sharing experiences through sewing. Mame believes that learning a new skill with fellow Youth Leaders who have a sibling with an intellectual disability as well as youth with intellectual disabilities will enhance support networks for families.

Over the next twelve months, Mame will develop the curriculum and make the necessary arrangements for an inclusive sewing camp to be held at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar. The event will bring together 75 youth with and without intellectual disabilities and 25 coaches and volunteers. The inclusive camp will aim to provide a space for youth with intellectual disabilities and their siblings to learn a new activity together, bond with other sibling pairs, and share experiences.
