Hakam and Hajer are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Bahrain who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to educate and promote a culture of inclusion by implementing sport and art programs to bring together Youth Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities.
They will organize interactive programs to actively engage participants through sports and art and also initiate a social media campaign to document and promote their mission. Hakam and Hajer hope to create a culture of inclusion within their communities and increase the number of Youth Leaders through their social media campaign and share images of joy and benefits of inclusion.
Over the course of six months, Hakam and Hajer will engage 60 Youth Leaders both with and without intellectual disabilities to assist with recruiting 20 new Youth Leaders to join the Special Olympics community to help empower and inspire the Unified Generation to spread the word about inclusion. Through their social media campaign, they believe highlighting the participants of Bahraini Special Olympics programs and activities will promote positivity and inclusion across their country.
