Daniela and Cecilia are sisters and Special Olympics Youth Leaders from El Salvador who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to support Special Olympics Unified programming.
They will design a personal nutrition program that encourages Special Olympics athletes and partners to maintain healthy lifestyles. Their project will focus on implementing interactive activities for individuals with and without intellectual disabilities that promote balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, and fitness. Daniela and Cecilia will recruit Special Olympics Youth Leaders, nutrition professionals, and Special Olympics volunteers to help plan and implement their project. Through their project, they hope to increase healthy lifestyle practices, social interactions, and community connections between individuals with and without intellectual disabilities throughout San Salvador.

Daniela and Cecilia will lead a team of Special Olympics Youth Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities, professionals, and community volunteers to design, plan and implement their project. Over nine months, Daniela and Cecilia will host activities and workshops to provide Special Olympics athletes and Youth Leaders the tools, knowledge, and hands-on learning experiences that teach the importance of healthy nutrition, recipes, and participation in daily fitness activities. The activities will also focus on responsibility, teamwork, and respect for themselves and others. Daniela and Cecilia's project will engage Special Olympics athletes and Youth Leaders in weekly interactive activities to inspire and empower the Unified Generation to maintain fit and healthy lifestyles while sharing messages of inclusion throughout their communities.
