Matene and Noura will address the lack of information and training which many individuals with disabilities and their families experience by organizing and implementing an educational workshop. As a result of this project, Matene and Noura hope that athletes will develop healthy habits that will allow them to live healthier lives and improve their athletic performance. In October 2019, Matene and Noura participated in the Special Olympics Africa Regional Youth Leadership Summit in Nairobi, Kenya and learned how the importance of youth leadership and engagement can lead to a stronger Unified Generation.

Over the course of three months, Matene and Noura will collaborate with local medical professionals, Youth Leaders, and families to develop a curriculum which will help address some of their biggest health and hygiene concerns. Some of Matene and Noura’s most important topics include basic hygiene and preventative care such as how to properly wash your hands, eat a balanced diet, and achieve daily fitness goals. For young girls and their families, the basic the curriculum will also include information on how to effectively address female health and hygiene concerns. Through their project, Matene and Noura are creating a happier and healthier Unified Generation.
