Gemarr is hoping to increase community engagement with Special Olympics through executing Unified Sports events in local schools.

About the Youth Leader

Gemarr is an 18-year-old Youth Leader from Kitts and Nevis. He has been volunteering with Special Olympics Kitts and Nevis for 2 years and he takes full advantage to volunteer whenever possible, aiding with guiding athletes to their respective sport fields and in handing out medals. He has given his time to various activities such as sporting activities in the community and has engaged in beach clean-up exercises.

The Inspiration

Alongside mentors from Special Olympics Kitts and Nevis, Gemarr has identified the need for more coaches, financial help and increased awareness through volunteerism, fundraising and sponsorship, and community involvement.

The Plan

To address this, Gemarr plans to target students at local schools for Unified Football training. Over the course of 6 months, Gemarr will work with SO Kitts and Nevis to organize Unified Football trainings, partner with schools to facilitate inclusion through football and volunteerism with members of the community. Through this project, Gemarr will create a promotional video about the trainings to bring awareness to Unified Sports.

Project Goals

Gemarr hopes that by creating and bringing awareness to Unified Sports in local schools, this project will lead to more opportunities for sponsorship, partnership, and volunteering with Special Olympics in his community.
