Grecia and Alfonso are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from El Salvador who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to encourage creativity and unity within schools by holding a craft day where recycled items such as magazines, cans and newspapers are used to create small ornaments.
Over the course of 12 months, Grecia and Alfonso will organize the project, target local schools, collect recyclable materials and lead the event. Grecia and Alfonso will share the progress of their project and the art on social media as they hope to make 15,000 social media impressions. By allowing students with and without intellectual disabilities to create their own recycled art, Grecia and Alfonso are showing how creativity and the arts can be a pathway to inclusion and an entry point into the Unified Generation.
