Sharing the Power of Siblings
Lindokuhle
Region
Africa
Program
Eswatini
Project Year
2018
Lindokuhle is a Special Olympics Youth Leader from Swaziland who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to create resources about the experiences of siblings of people with intellectual disabilities.
The resources will allow siblings to use their voices and share their stories. Siblings will be able to document how they have been treated and how they would like to be treated in the future. Lindokuhle hopes that these resources will educate the public on how discrimination affects siblings and how to be more inclusive of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Lindokuhle is inspired by her own experiences as a sibling, in which her brother was constantly bullied. She wants to help people recognize and appreciate the talents of people like her brother and better support siblings like herself. Lindokuhle hopes that her resources give siblings a voice, share siblings’ talents, and promote awareness and inclusion of siblings.

Lindokuhle is excited to be a part of the Unified Generation. To her, being a part of the Unified Generation means being part of “a generation that does not segregate or discriminate, a generation that does not judge, a generation that includes all people in whatever that is done.” As a leader of the Unified Generation, Lindokuhle is creating inclusion in Swaziland and inspiring inclusion around the world.
