Bryan and Carlos are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from El Salvador leading a Youth Innovation Project to challenge others in their community to live healthier lives.
Through their project, Bryan and Carlos will engage new youth leaders to expand Special Olympics programming. Through a daily step count competition, Bryan and Carlos are excited to see how Special Olympics athletes and Unified Partners become more connected and healthier in their everyday lives.

For their step count competition, Bryan and Carlos will pair Special Olympics athletes and Unified Partners together in small teams of two to three. Each week, Bryan and Carlos will monitor the number of steps taken by each participant and the total for each team. As the project progresses, participants will be encouraged to invite others to participate in the step competition.

Bryan and Carlos are excited to see how their project will decrease the sedentary lifestyle of Unified Partners and Special Olympics athletes. They hope their project will encourage participants to lead a healthy lifestyle, not only through sports, but also through recreational healthy activity. By creating teams to compete in their fitness competition, Bryan and Carlos are excited to see inclusion and health hand-in-hand, led by young change agents for the Unified Generation.
