Inspired by their experiences with Special Olympics, Fatou and Anna Mariam will lead a Youth Innovation Project to promote inclusion in their communities by bringing together youth with and without disabilities in a theatre production to share  powerful messages of inclusion  and kindness across the Gambia. Fatou and Anna Mariam will produce a play showcasing the talents of their cast to celebrate the joys of being part of an inclusive community. Fatou and Anna Mariam’s project will bring together people with and without intellectual disabilities in a creative platform where they can educate others in their community about inclusion.

Over nine months, Fatou and Anna Miriam will lead a team of Special Olympics Youth Leaders with and to collaborate with drama and movement coaches to rehearse and produce a play that will engage participants in a production that promotes kindness, self-esteem, and inclusion. Publicity and donations from ticket sales will be used to establish and expand Unified Schools programming across  the Gambia. By promoting social inclusion through theatre and the arts, Fatou and Anna Miriam hope to recruit new young people to join the Unified Generation and spread messages of inclusion on and off the stage.
