Mina and Jun Hyung will lead a Youth Innovation Project that uses modified physical activity to help youth with and without intellectual disabilities grow together in this unpredictable era of COVID-19. They will host online and in-person education and activity sessions that support youth in developing a sense of joy, confidence and achievement. Mina and Jun Hyung will use this project as a tool to help create a more integrated society where people are not discriminated against, beginning by shaping the attitudes and skills of today’s youth.

Over 9 months, Mina and Jun Hyung will lead a total of 24 in-person and online activities as a way to bring youth with and without intellectual disabilities together and improve awareness about intellectual disabilities in society. They will raise awareness about their project by publicizing it on social media, producing, and distributing printed project-related materials. With this project, Mina and Jun Hyung hope to increase participation in Special Olympics Korea as well as allow youth to showcase their talents to society and improve their athletic abilities. Mina and Jun Hyung believe that this project will not only create a mutually beneficial environment of growth for youth, but also change society’s perception of people with intellectual disabilities.
