Inge and Anette will host a Special Olympics Youth Summit in their program for athletes and young people to engage in leadership training.

About the Project Leaders

Inge is a 24-year-old from Tallinn, Estonia. She has been involved with Special Olympics for many years as an athlete. She is also a Youth Leader and serves on the board of Special Olympics Estonia as the athlete representative. Inge is also part of the Special Olympics Europe Eurasia Committee. She became a Youth Leader because she likes to meet new people and wants to make the world more tolerant towards people with intellectual disabilities.

Anette is a 25-year-old from Tartu, Estonia. She has been a physical education teacher at a special school in Estonia and has participated with her athletes in different Special Olympics events and competitions. Anette became a Youth Leader so that she could make a larger impact in terms of sharing knowledge about the Special Olympics.

The Inspiration

Inge and Anette noticed that in their community, the Youth Leaders are aging out of Special Olympics’ age limit for Youth Leaders. They aim to find new active Youth Leaders to serve as leaders for their Special Olympics program through this project.

The Plan

Inge and Anette plan is to organize a local 3-day Youth Summit in South-Estonia for 6 Estonian athletes and 6 partners in June of 2023. They will find each athlete a Unified partner to collaborate with both in the short and long term.

Project Goals

The goal of their summit is to attract at least 6 new Youth Leaders to be active in Special Olympics Estonia after the summit and carry out different Unified projects. Additionally, they will partner up with 2 new schools and develop 6 new project ideas to carry out within Special Olympics Estonia in the near future.
