The project centered on developing and delivering a leadership training session designed to equip young people with the skills to create activities that foster inclusion, participation, and belonging. The training emphasized advocacy within schools, families, and the broader community, encouraging participants to become leaders who promote inclusive environments. Throughout the project, the educational center remained actively involved, helping support and strengthen the initiative.

The leadership and awareness session introduced students to the Unified Schools model and highlighted the role of youth leadership committees in creating more welcoming and inclusive school communities.
The project was inspired by the athletes and youth leaders the pair met at the Turin Unified Leadership Summit. Seeing the passion and commitment of young leaders working to build more inclusive schools motivated them to bring those ideas back to their own community.
They also drew encouragement and support from their families, Special Olympics Dominican Republic, and the Unified Schools program.
Through this project, the youth leaders presented the Unified Schools program at a local school, sharing the importance of inclusion, Unified Sports, and youth leadership with students and educators.

Their presentations helped raise awareness about creating inclusive school communities while introducing more young people to the opportunities available through Special Olympics and Unified Schools. By sharing practical ways to get involved, they encouraged students to become volunteers, advocates, and leaders who promote inclusion in their own schools.
The youth leaders successfully achieved their goal of promoting the Unified Schools program and strengthening inclusive leadership within their local community in the Dominican Republic.
Their project inspired students to participate in inclusive activities, volunteer within their schools, and recognize the positive impact that youth leadership can have in creating welcoming environments. By sharing their experiences as a Unified Pair, they demonstrated how collaboration and teamwork can bring people together and create meaningful change.
The youth leaders reflected that their favorite part of the project was sharing their journey as a Unified Pair and seeing the excitement and interest it sparked among other students.
Their greatest takeaway was that inclusion has the strongest impact when people are able to see it in action and experience its benefits firsthand. Through leadership, collaboration, and shared experiences, they saw how small actions can inspire lasting change within a school community.
