Youth leaders Jijendar and Adit organized inclusive sports activities in Pondicherry, Bharat, bringing participants with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities together through football, cricket, and other sports. The project also raised awareness of Unified Sports across schools, colleges, and community centers, creating more opportunities for youth to connect, play, and lead together.

About the Project

Youth leaders Jijendar and Adit from Pondicherry, Bharat, developed a Unified Sports program to create meaningful opportunities for participants with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities to interact, collaborate, and play together. Through football, cricket, and other sports, the project promoted equal participation, teamwork, mutual respect, and understanding while helping create a more inclusive community.

The Inspiration

The youth leaders were inspired by their vision of a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to participate, connect, and succeed.

The Project

The project organized a community awareness campaign across schools, colleges, and community centers to promote the Unified Sports model and the benefits of inclusion. Through these partnerships, the youth leaders recruited athletes, partners, and volunteers to participate in football, cricket, and other sports.

Participants took part in friendly matches, tournaments, and sports festivals designed to create fun and inclusive opportunities to play together. Medals, certificates, and awards recognized participants for their involvement and achievements.

Project Impact

The project created opportunities for athletes with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities to build confidence, showcase their talents, and develop meaningful connections through sport. It also promoted teamwork and respect while raising awareness about inclusion among schools, clubs, and community members.

Project Leaders Reflection

Jijendar and Adit were excited to encourage other youth, volunteers, and local leaders to participate in the movement through sports and community engagement. They also designed the project with sustainability in mind, creating a model for continued Unified Sports activities beyond the initial events.
