Unified Sports
Dea and Rexhina organized local and national 3v3 Unified basketball events in Albania that brought together young people with and without intellectual disabilities to play, learn, and compete in an inclusive environment. Through basketball games and skill clinics, they promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, and community engagement.
About the Project
The initiative brought together young people with and without intellectual disabilities as athletes and Unified partners to participate in basketball games and skill clinics. Throughout the project, Dea and Rexhina played a key role in organizing and coordinating the events. They also engaged their community by inviting local residents, families, and stakeholders to participateand support the initiative, creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone involved.

One of the project leaders' favorite memories was watching all of the teams play together and support one another. They emphasized that communication, teamwork, and inclusion are the foundation of creating successful and meaningful Unified sports experiences.

Looking ahead, Dea and Rexhina plan to continue using basketball as a way to promote inclusion in their community. They hope to welcome new athletes, encourage others to volunteer, and remain actively involved with Special Olympics Albania.
