Dea and Rexhina organized local and national 3v3 Unified basketball events in Albania that brought together young people with and without intellectual disabilities to play, learn, and compete in an inclusive environment. Through basketball games and skill clinics, they promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

About the Project

They recognized that basketball not only promotes inclusion and sportsmanship, but also creates opportunities for youth leadership development, community engagement, advocacy, and health promotion.

The initiative brought together young people with and without intellectual disabilities as athletes and Unified partners to participate in basketball games and skill clinics. Throughout the project, Dea and Rexhina played a key role in organizing and coordinating the events. They also engaged their community by inviting local residents, families, and stakeholders to participateand support the initiative, creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone involved.

The Inspiration

Dea and Rexhina drew inspiration from one another throughout the project. They also expressed their gratitude to their coaches, volunteers, and Special Olympics Albania for their ongoing encouragement, support, and commitment to helping them bring their vision to life.

The Project

The project successfully organized both local and national 3v3 Unified basketball events, creating opportunities for teams to compete in an inclusive environment where every athlete felt welcomed and valued. The events brought young people together through sport while strengthening teamwork, respect, and inclusion.

Through the local and national 3v3 events, participants built teamwork, strengthened relationships, and fostered a greater sense of inclusion within their community.
