Building Future-Ready Inclusive Leaders Across Asia Pacific

As an organization that focuses on advancing the rights of people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics seeks to nurture future-ready leaders with the right mindset, skillsets, and practical tools to enable success for the movement inside out.

This commitment was reinforced most recently with the successful wrap-up of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Unified Leadership Academy Leader III. The third consecutive year of leadership development focuses on strengthening inclusive leadership skills and growing organizational sustainability capabilities amongst athlete leaders, mentors, program and regional staff.

A total of 31 participants, both with and without intellectual disabilities, from across 12 country programs participated in three facilitated learning webinars on the topic of Organizational Sustainability, as a lead-up to the in-person gathering in Singapore for a three-day interactive workshop where they put the theoretical knowledge into practice. Supported by on-site project mentors (Bank of America employees), participants were tasked to develop organizational sustainability strategies by embedding inclusive leadership in their respective areas of work, seeking practical solutions to advance Special Olympics programming, secure more funding and strengthen the brand.

A huge thank you goes to Bank of America and Lions Clubs International Foundation for being staunch supporters of the event. Special appreciation also go to Chaitanya Nangia and Martin Siah from Bank of America, Jasmine Chew from Macquarie Group Foundation, Raju Venkataraman from Ecsel Consulting, Dr Femin Diaz from the Singapore Institute of Directors and Jim Livingstone from Northpoint, for leading thought-provoking sessions and sparking food for thought amongst participants.

Here's to leading sustainably with impact!
