More than a Logo, a Symbol that Connects the World Together

The story behind the Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027 logo
Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027 logo

The Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027 logo is more than a visual identity. It is a symbol of inclusion, connection, and the spirit of the athletes who will take part in this global celebration of sport. Athletes from Special Olympics Chile were involved in creating the logo, helping to shape a design that reflects not just how the Games look but what they stand for at their core.

The logo visually expresses how Chile embraces the global spirit of Special Olympics. The shapes and colors are arranged in a circle to reflect constant connection. At the center is the long-standing symbol of Special Olympics surrounded by icons reflecting Chile’s identity, nature, and diversity. Together, these elements express the idea of a shared space where cultures, people, and dreams come together without barriers.

Colors & Visual Elements with Powerful Meaning

The Santiago 2027 logo features visual elements drawn from Chile’s natural and cultural landscape. A starry sky symbolizes big dreams, personal growth, and the idea that every athlete shines in their own way. Flowing waves and circular shapes suggest an embrace, representing friendship, support, movement, and celebration. The Andes Mountains stand for strength, resilience, and determination, while a bird’s silhouette reflects freedom, overcoming limits, and reaching new heights.

Color also plays an important role in telling this story. Warm tones like yellow and orange reflect optimism, energy, and the passion athletes bring to every challenge. Green represents growth, renewal, and the potential that flourishes when people feel included, while purple celebrates creativity and diversity. Shades of blue, inspired by Chile’s sky and water, convey trust, calm, and commitment, creating a sense of a safe and supportive environment for athletes to perform at their best.

The Special Olympics World Games Santiago 2027 will take place in Chile’s capital from October 16 to October 24, 2027. This is the first time Special Olympics World Games will be held in South America, and the Southern Hemisphere, in the organization’s 57-year history. More than 6,000 athletes from over 170 countries will come together to compete in 22 sports, connect, and celebrate inclusion, together with coaches, delegations, volunteers, family and spectators.
