Trinidad & Tobago played host to the first-ever Special Olympics Regional Beach Games. This pioneering event drew 130 athletes, 70 coaches, and delegates from Special Olympics Programs across the Caribbean to compete in a variety of beach sports.

Early November, on the island of Bonaire, a Local Organizing Committee, together with the national government of the Netherlands invested in a new, innovative, and transformative model of development through sport programming for youth with intellectual and development disabilities.

A small 111-square mile island off the coast of South America became a part of Special Olympics history when Bonaire played host to the first-ever Special Olympics Dutch Caribbean Kingdom Games November 3-5.
