Cultivating the Next Unified Generation is a youth-led podcast and digital media project spotlighting stories of inclusion from Special Olympics Youth Ambassadors across the U.S.

About the Project

Cultivating the Next Unified Generation was a youth-led podcast and digital storytelling initiative focused on highlighting Special Olympics U.S. Youth Ambassadors and their journeys with inclusion. The project used video interviews and social media to amplify the voices of inclusion advocates across the country.

The Inspiration

Anisha Chopra and Kali Ohlemacher were inspired by their Youth Ambassador peers and wanted to create a platform where stories of inclusion could be shared widely. Their passion for connection and their experience at Special Olympics USA Games sparked the idea for a storytelling-based project.

The Project

The duo created a podcast called Inclusive Minds, where they interviewed other Youth Ambassadors about their Special Olympics experiences and visions for inclusion. They shared the podcast on YouTube and Instagram, using video editing tools and cover art to increase accessibility and engagement.

Project Impact

While the project directly engaged seven youth and reached over 2,600 people online, its most powerful impact was within the Youth Ambassador network, offering a platform for deeper reflection and storytelling. Although no new Unified Schools were created, the project succeeded in fostering connection and visibility within the broader inclusion movement.

Project Leader Reflection

Anisha and Kali are proud of their growth in public speaking and video production, and especially proud of the finished podcast that gave their peers a platform to shine. They learned to overcome scheduling and tech challenges, and they plan to continue their advocacy through local schools and university programs.
