JeongGyon and Moon-Kyum are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Korea who were inspired by their participation in Special Olympics to contribute to the good of the community through promoting inclusion, sharing their positive influence and recognizing unseen good deeds.
They will draw upon this passion to lead a Youth Innovation Project in which they will recruit youth with and without intellectual disabilities to work together on a Unified Golf project. As members of the Unified Generation, JeongGyon and Moon-Kyum are confident that this project will bring joy to the participants spending time together and help to reduce prejudices against people with intellectual disabilities.

Over the course of 9 months, JeongGyon and Moon-Kyum will recruit participants with and without intellectual disabilities and empower them to organize lessons at a golf range and participate in a level 2 golf tournament. Participants will also plan promotion and fundraising strategies, thereby improving their communication skills and getting more people engaged. However, golf won’t be the only focus of this project; JeongGyon and Moon-Kyum want to create an open environment where youth can take the time to share their emotions and experiences, as well as come to understand and accept each other’s differences. JeongGyon and Moon-Kyum hope their project will increase awareness of disabilities in their community and serve as an example that inspires other schools and communities to create inclusive programs of their own.
