Unified Schools
Vivien Karina and Zsofia are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Hungary who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to create three new Unified Schools and expand opportunities for youth with and without intellectual disabilities to participate in inclusive sports, education, and arts programming by promoting social inclusion.
Over nine months, Vivien Karina and Zsofia will prepare a new generation of Special Olympics Youth Leaders and teachers to be ambassadors for Special Olympics in their schools and communities. Through meetings and workshops, Vivien Karina and Zsofia will engage over 400 students with and without intellectual disabilities in interactive programming that demonstrates the benefits Unified Sports provides to participants. By expanding programming in existing Unified Schools and engaging new Special Olympics Youth Leaders and teachers, Vivien Karina and Zsofia will work to add three new Unified Schools and increase participation in Unified programs as Special Olympics Hungary prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Vivien Karina and Zsofia will empower and inspire the Unified Generation to join them as leaders in the global movement for inclusion.
