Sebenzile's project will help people with and without intellectual disabilities from connections through solving puzzles together.

About the Project Leader

Sebenzile is a 22-year-old Youth Leader, who has been involved with Special Olympics for over four years. She has attended Athlete Leadership trainings in Swaziland and is a part of the Special Olympics Program: Eswatini. She has learned a lot about the mission of Special Olympics which has helped her better understand how to be a great leader.

The Inspiration

Sebenzile has observed that individuals with intellectual disabilities often suffer from anxiety, low self-esteem, and poor social skills. They are prone to a greater risk of being left out or ostracized from social settings and excluded from community activities.

The Plan

Sebenzile is planning an inclusive puzzle tournament where individuals with and without intellectual disabilities work together to solve puzzles that increase in difficulty as they progress through the tournament. The tournament will involve Unified pairs and families. Sebenzile hopes that this promotes inclusive in a friendly competitive nature.

Project Goals

Sebenzile aims to create a space where individuals with and without intellectual disabilities can meaningfully connect and solve puzzles together. She hopes that these activities will encourage those who struggle with social skills to interact with others in a relaxed setting, improving their confidence outside of the classroom.
