Pelinsu is a 17-year-old from Ankara, Turkey. She participated in the Special Olympics Youth Leadership Summit in Berlin, where she discovered her passion for spreading the message of inclusion. Pelinsu is a proud member of the Unified Generation as she has completed a significant amount of work on inclusion projects within her school. Pelinsu became a Youth Leader because she wants other youth to reap the benefits of involvement with Special Olympics, especially relating to social life.
Pelinsu feels that in her community people are not giving chances or opportunities to students with intellectual disabilities to contribute and become involved in social life. Some of the people with disabilities are not getting education and living in their own environment. They don't get opportunities to socialize.
She plans to gather students from different state schools from the Private Bilkent High School to engage in sports activities and spend a day together including eating and dancing.
Pelinsu hopes to raise awareness about the Unified Generation with the project and to involve other schools to plan Unified Sports activities in their community. She wants to involve students with intellectual disabilities in social events, and in different activities that will allow them to develop their skills.
