Inclusive Ecological Camp
Agostina; Youth Leader
Agostina
Region

Program
Argentina
Project Year
2022
Agostina will host an ecological camp in her community for young people with and without ID.

About the Youth Leader

Agostina, 25, is a Youth Leader from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has been involved with Special Olympics for eight years and is passionate about making inclusion more present in society. Agostina believes that no matter how small, progress is the sum of small changes.

The Inspiration

Agostina enjoys learning about the environment and sustainability and noticed there were a lack of resources and opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to educate themselves on these topics. Agostina believes an inclusive ecological camp will provide students with the ability to learn about and work on environmental problems in a leadership context.

The Plan

With the help of other Youth Leaders, Agostina will create an inclusive ecological camp. At this camp, youth with and without intellectual disabilities will attend. Participants will take classes and implement environmental education projects, as well as receive training on digital accessibility, easy read, and urban gardening. These activities will allow for an inclusive and encouraging experience for Youth Leaders to educate themselves and others on the environment.

Project Goals

Agostina hopes the inclusive ecological camp can offer participants the opportunity to be a part of an innovative and educational experience that promotes inclusive leadership, collaborative work, and the involvement of Youth Leaders in the Special Olympics movement.
