Jennifer and Teresa are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Austria and members of the Special Olympics Eastern European Youth Council.

Jennifer and Teresa will lead a Youth Innovation Project to implement Special Olympics Unified Sports workshops and Motor Activity Training Program (MATP) events in their schools and communities. Through these events, youth with and without intellectual disabilities will engage in interactive programming. By engaging Special Olympics Youth Leaders, educators, and community members in Unified Sports and MATP training workshops and events, Jennifer and Teresa hope to increase awareness of Special Olympics programming and opportunities with individuals in their communities. By engaging community members In Unified Sports and MATP programming, Jennifer and Teresa are confident they can recruit new members of the Unified Generation.

Over nine months, Jennifer and Teresa will lead their team with the expansion of Special Olympics Unified Sports and MATP programs and facilitate the establishment of new Unified Schools and Unified Champion Schools in Austria. Jennifer and Teresa’s project will empower Special Olympics Youth Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities to connect through the power of sports and expand their opportunities available to compete in Unified Sports competitions. By hosting MATP events, they hope to bring awareness to schools and communities about opportunities available for individuals with severe or profound intellectual disabilities. By leading their project, Jennifer and Teresa will highlight the importance of inclusive activities in creating communities of acceptance.
